| How simple is it to migrate existing research data into RedAlerts RMS? |
| |
| Extremely. Code Red has the tools and the team to make the migration of all your existing research information - from shared drives, Outlook folders, local drives and other systems - to RedAlerts simple and seamless. |
| Do all of our analysts need to use RedAlerts RMS in order for it to be effective? |
| |
| No. RedAlerts helps each individual analyst build their investment ideas. An analyst who uses RedAlerts eliminates the distraction of searching for information scattered across shared drives and Outlook folders, gets only relevant information from brokers and research providers, receives new information that is automatically categorized by symbol and added to their existing information, can jump between ideas, quickly regain their train of thought and build on previous work, and will not miss critical information because it is buried in their Outlook inbox. |
| Our investment process is unique and relies on several proprietary systems. Shouldn´t we build our own RMS? |
| |
| RedAlerts is the right choice for firms that need a feature-rich yet highly customizable RMS. Most clients integrate external data, configure custom fields and export data from RedAlerts. Code Red makes this easy through Open RMS, a set of open technologies that even provides clients with direct access to the RedAlerts database. Our clients create templates and new work flows unique to their own business, integrate data from proprietary and third-party systems into the investment process and export, share and report on data through RedAlerts. |
| Can I provide my own server or do I have to buy it from CodeRed? |
| |
| Firms can supply their own server. This is especially beneficial for firms that have standardized on a hardware platform or negotiated exceptional pricing agreements. Code Red can also provide clients with a server. |
| How does RedAlerts RMS help me manage the research process better than shared drives and Outlook folders? |
| |
| RedAlerts facilitates the investment process while shared drives and Outlook folders hinder it. Shared drives and Outlook folders are basic business technologies lacking the tools designed to help investment professionals. They lack the ability to allow users to tag items to multiple companies or to provide additional data tags (e.g. priority, quality, comments, etc). Personal Outlook folders aren’t shared across users. And when using two or more locations to store research that may not be indexed well for searching, finding relevant information becomes a time-intensive task. |
| Does RedAlerts RMS have the flexibility to create user-specific views and new work flows on the fly or does this require custom development work? |
| |
| Code Red´s Open RMS enables firms to configure their proprietary workflows in RedAlerts, avoiding the additional costs of using a consultancy or expensive solutions group. Configurations, which include custom fields and custom data entry templates, can be done at the individual or group level across the entire firm. |
| What data sources can I integrate with RedAlerts RMS in order to create my Research Workspace? |
| |
| Typical scenarios include: holdings from an accounting or order management system, company events from a calendaring service, market data, fundamentals and ideas through Code Red´s IdeaNet product. Several clients also provide custom internal information, such as P&L data, which can be easily loaded on a weekly, daily, or more frequent and timed basis. |
| What is the Code Red technology platform? |
| |
| RedAlerts is built using Microsoft´s suite of development tools. Our web services and front end are built using C# .NET and distributed through IIS, and our database is SQL Server. We utilize several SQL server packages, including Reporting Services, Integration Services and Indexing Services, to enhance and customize each client install. |
